My bike won't unlock
Cause: Pressure on the kick lock pin prevents unlocking. The kickstand might be blocking the pedals as well. This situation is tricky, but easy to fix.
What you'll see:
- Blue animation appears for 5 seconds after startup
- If no movement: Failed unlock animation follows (and you might receive a push notification)
- If movement detected: Continues to show battery level
How to fix it:
- Move the bike backwards and hold it.
- Press the kicklock pin; it should show slight movement. If not, pull the bike back harder.
- Unlock the bike.
- If it won’t unlock, keep pressing the kicklock button while unlocking.
This usually resolves the issue within seconds.
If the Lock still does not release
If the above steps don’t work:
- Remove the kickstand using the Allen key Nr. 5 (the same one used for the seatpost).
- Once the kickstand is removed, retry the unlock process.

Tips to avoid this in the future
- Be aware that by design, the pedals move when you move the bike backwards. Moving the bike backwards too much will block the pedal against the kickstand. Because of this, there's too much pressure on the kick lock to release.
- Please look at the images below: Always make sure the pedal & crank are not resting against the kickstand before locking. Make sure the pedal has plenty of space to move.
- Occasionally check that the kicklock mechanism is clean and unobstructed.
Locking Issues
Cause: Kick lock isn't properly engaged.
What Happens:
- Bike remains powered on despite locking attempt
- You'll hear the startup sounds again
How to Fix:
- Try locking again - ensure kick lock fully engages
- Listen for confirmation - proper locking should be audible
- Check lock position - make sure kick lock is completely down and wheel is aligned
Quick Tips
For Unlocking:
- Small movements are enough to put pressure on the lock - keep your bike standing still while locking
- Only start moving your bike when it fails to unlock and gives you the 'Not unlocking animation'
For Locking:
- Ensure that your wheel is aligned within the proper locking range
- Gently press the kick lock to lock the bike
- Wait for audio confirmation before walking away
