Alarm: Setup and Troubleshooting

Your VanMoof bike's alarm system activates automatically when you lock your bike using the kick lock. The alarm will sound if someone attempts to move or tamper with your locked bike.

 

Alarm Not Working? Check These Steps

1. Enable Alarm in App Settings

  1. Open the VanMoof app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select Advanced
  4. Toggle Alarm to ON

2. Activate the Kick Lock

  • The alarm only works when your bike is locked and your phone is not connected within Bluetooth proximity
  • Use the kick lock on your bike to engage the locking mechanism and activate the alarm

3. Update Your Firmware

  • Ensure your bike has the latest firmware installed. Check for updates in the VanMoof app
  • Follow the firmware update process if an update is available

 

Understanding Alarm Delays

Your bike's alarm doesn't activate immediately after locking. The delay depends on your bike's current state:

From Riding Mode (Bike Operational)

  • Delay: 30 seconds
  • When you finish riding and lock your bike, the alarm waits 30 seconds before it becomes active
  • This prevents false alarms when you're still near your bike

From Powered Off State

  • Delay: 2 seconds
  • If your bike is already powered off when you lock it, the alarm activates almost immediately
  • Minimal delay ensures quick protection
