Precision Tracking with Ride Pro

Coming soon!

Precision Tracking is coming soon to Ride Pro. Stay tuned, keep your bike and App up-to-date, and you will be the first to notice our latest developments.

Track your VanMoof, wherever, whenever. Know its location. Precision Tracking, our always-on tracking feature, keeps you connected to your bike at all times.

What is Precision Tracking

Precision Tracking gives you continuous updates on your bike's location. The system updates your location instantly on your VanMoof app homescreen whenever your bike moves while the bike is locked, triggers a warning or registers a status change like charging, locking or unlocking your ride.

This feature is exclusive to the S6 series and requires an active Ride Pro subscription.

How it works

Your bike connects directly to our network. To save battery, the bike updates its location when it detects movement while locked, the bike’s status changes (when locking, unlocking, starting to charge), or when a warning is triggered. Updates usually land within a minute.

After your bike links up, a circle appears in the VanMoof app to mark its position. No need to refresh the location manually - we got you covered and update when something happens. The system refreshes automatically when movement is detected or the bike’s status changes - so if you see an old location, this means the bike is stationary.

Precision Tracking vs Apple Find My

To ensure the most reliable connection, your bike can only link to one tracking network at a time. This prevents system interference and keeps your security features running smoothly.

How to choose your network

Open your VanMoof app and go to Settings > Bike Location. From there, you can choose Precision Tracking, Apple Find My, or No Bike Tracking.

  • Precision Tracking: Choose this to enhance your bike with the built in VanMoof system and control and track your bike from one app.
  • Apple Find My: Apple’s global network to keep track of your property. Manage your bike's location from the Apple Find My app.
  • No Bike Tracking: We care about your privacy and added an additional step to turn off all tracking. But no worries - if your bike ever gets stolen, you can still activate the Theft Tracking functionality to retrieve your bike.

Precision Tracking vs Theft Tracking

Precision Tracking is built for daily peace of mind - and in cases where you misplaced it. Theft Tracking is for when it’s actually gone. If your bike is ever stolen, simply activate Theft Tracking in your settings. This launches our specific hunting guide, which locks your bike and makes it unusable to the thief. Next up there’s steps to locate your bike (Ride Pro subscription), no matter which daily network you chose.

Tracking and your privacy

We care about your privacy and therefore ensure that only authorised riders can track your location. Only in the instance that your bike is stolen, and you activate the Theft Tracking, the location of your bike gets shared with our Bike Hunters team (only with active Theft Proof).

For extra privacy, you can turn off all tracking in the settings. But no worries - if your bike ever gets stolen, you can still activate the Theft Tracking functionality to disable it and retrieve your bike.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

  • Why is my location not updating instantly? Your bike enters a sleep state to save battery when stationary. It wakes up and sends a location update as soon as it moves while locked or registers a status change (when locking, unlocking, starting to charge) or a warning is triggered.
  • Can I use both networks simultaneously? No. For privacy and system reliability, only one tracking network can be active at a time.
  • How do I ensure the most accurate tracking? Keep your bike firmware and VanMoof app up to date to ensure the best tracking experience.
