Theft tracking on S5 & A5

The 5-series brought deeper Apple Find My integration and stronger anti-theft hardware, and will get Ride Pro in-app tracking later in 2026.

Applies to: S5, A5

Tracking technology

The S5 and A5 use the same, but enhanced, proven combination of GSM cell-tower triangulation and connected GPS. Once the bike is reported stolen in the app, coordinates are pushed to VanMoof's servers and accessible via My VanMoof.

Apple Find My

Unlike the S3 (which added Find My only from April 2021), the S5 and A5 include Apple Find My as a standard feature for all units. This lets you locate your bike at any time in Apple's Find My app — ideal for finding a parked bike in an unfamiliar area.

Important: Find My and VanMoof theft tracking cannot run at the same time. Once you report your bike stolen and activate tracking, Find My is temporarily suspended. Always check Find My first for a last-known location before activating theft tracking.

Push notifications with Ride Pro (coming soon)

Push notifications when the bike's alarm is triggered are available to Ride Pro subscribers only. Without Ride Pro, you will not receive real-time alarm alerts on your phone.

How to start tracking a stolen S5 or A5

  1. Open the VanMoof app on your phone
  2. Tap Settings, then select your bike
  3. Scroll down and tap Theft Tracking
  4. Follow the in-app prompts: Track with Ride Pro or Disable bike remotely.
  5. View your bike's location on My VanMoof, or wait for Ride Pro in-app tracking (coming later in 2026)

Ride Pro on the S5 & A5

In-app GPS map tracking for S5 and A5 is coming with Ride Pro later in 2026. Once available, Ride Pro will also add the Bluetooth proximity radar (to hone in on the exact location) and last-seen alerts directly inside the VanMoof app.

Tip: Ride Pro includes a 14-day free trial. If your bike is stolen and you haven't subscribed yet, you can activate Ride Pro immediately — even without having your bike in hand.
