Theft Proof is a paid service that activates VanMoof's professional Bike Hunter team when your bike is stolen. It's the safety net underneath all the tracking technology. The Bike Hunters use the same tracking technology available to you — GSM data, Bluetooth scanning, and GPS — combined with local knowledge and coordination with police to attempt recovery.

How it works
- Report your bike stolen in the VanMoof app and file a police report
- VanMoof's Bike Hunter team is automatically notified and activated
- The team monitors your bike's tracking data and coordinates recovery
- If the bike is found, Bike Hunters work to retrieve it and return it to you
- If the bike is not recovered within 14 days, VanMoof replaces it with a bike of similar mileage and condition
Note: A valid police report is required to initiate the replacement process. File one as soon as you realise your bike is stolen.
Theft Proof vs Ride Pro
These two services are complementary, not competing. The simplest way to think about it:
- Theft Proof — VanMoof hunts your bike for you and replaces it if they can't find it. You sit back.
- Ride Pro — You hunt your bike yourself with the same professional tools. You're in control.
Many riders use both: Ride Pro for personal tracking and ease of mind, Theft Proof as a financial backstop if the worst happens.
