How to track your VanMoof

Reporting your bike stolen in the VanMoof app is the essential first step — it's what activates the tracking system, disables your stolen bike and starts the recovery process.

Applies to: All models

Important: Tracking only starts once you report your bike stolen. VanMoof's system does not passively monitor your bike's location during normal use. You must trigger it manually.

Step-by-step: reporting in the VanMoof app

  1. Open the VanMoof app on your iOS or Android device
  2. Tap Settings (bottom right of the screen)
  3. Select the bike you want to report
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Theft tracking
  5. Either choose tracking with Ride Pro or Disable the bike remotely.
  6. Confirm your report — the app will walk you through the remaining steps

Once reported, the bike is remotely disabled and the tracking chip activates. VanMoof's servers begin receiving location coordinates as soon as the bike is within cellular network coverage.

What happens next — by model

S3 & X3 (and older): You will receive an email with a personal tracking link. With Ride Pro, you can also track the bike live inside the VanMoof app. Allow up to 24 hours for the first coordinates to appear.

S5 & A5: View your bike's location via My VanMoof. In-app tracking with Ride Pro is coming later in 2026.

S6-series: View your bike's location in-app. Live and more accurate In-app tracking with Ride Pro is coming later in 2026.

Note: Push notifications when the alarm triggers are a Ride Pro feature. Without Ride Pro, you will not receive real-time alarm alerts.

What happens after you report a theft?

  Day 0 – 14 After 14 days
With Theft Proof Bike Hunters track and attempt recovery. If not found, we’ll ship a replacement of similar age and mileage.
Without Theft Proof You (and the authorities) use the tracking links to locate the bike. Tracking remains active until the bike is recovered or the battery drains.

Check the Location

  How to Track Additional Info
VanMoof S5 & A5 Sign in to your My VanMoof account and click Check bike location. If no map appears, your bike hasn’t transmitted coordinates yet.
VanMoof S3 & X3 You’ll receive an email titled Track my bike with a live tracking map. It may take up to 24 hours for the first location to appear.

Notify the police

Always file an official police report as soon as your bike is stolen. Share the tracking link or coordinates with officers — many recovered VanMoof bikes have been retrieved with police assistance. If you have Theft Proof, filing a police report is also required to initiate the replacement process.

Read more about activating Theft Proof.

Note: If you think you've simply misplaced your bike rather than it being stolen, use Apple Find My first — it's faster and doesn't disable the bike. Only mark your bike as stolen if you're sure it has been taken.
