At VanMoof, your peace of mind is our top priority. We’ve built advanced security features directly into our bikes and ecosystem to ensure your ride stays yours. Here is how we protect you and your bike.
Bike stolen? File a police report.
If your bike is stolen, always file a police report. This helps with recovery by us, you, or the police - now and later. Keep in mind:
- Bike Depot: Check the municipality’s bike depot first, as they may have removed it.
- Frame Number: Report with your Frame Number (not the BikeID) from the VanMoof app (Settings > Advanced).
- Police Report: If confirmed stolen, report it to the police immediately, usually online, and take note of the case number.
🔒 Remote Locking & Theft Mode
The moment you report your bike as stolen in the VanMoof app, it locks down completely. It becomes entirely unusable to anyone else, rendering it a very heavy paperweight for thieves.
📡 Always-On VanMoof Tracking
Your bike features built-in location tracking. For next-level security, our Ride Pro package offers advanced Theft Tracking to help monitor your bike's location in real-time.

🕵️♂️ Theft Proof & The Bike Hunters
If your bike goes missing, our legendary team of Bike Hunters will track it down. If they can’t find and recover your bike within two weeks, we promise to provide you with a replacement.

🔑 Rotating Validation Codes
To prevent unauthorized access, your bike uses a dynamic Validation Code. This code rotates when the bike changes owners.
A code can never be used twice.
The code automatically rotates and updates in your account whenever a bike is unlinked, keeping your bike's digital ownership airtight.
Unlinking your bike? This will generate a new code which is sent to your email address.

🪪 Bike Credentials Service
Lost access to your account or bike details? Our team is here to help safely restore your credentials. To keep the entire VanMoof community safe, we strictly verify ownership by cross-referencing local police registers and the VanMoof stolen bike registry before granting access.
