Prepare your VanMoof e-bike for its next owner by removing your personal information and generating a new validation code.
Steps to prepare your VanMoof
1. Remove your bike from Find My network (if applicable)
If you've added your VanMoof to Apple's Find My network, open the Find My app, select your bike, scroll to the bottom and tap "Remove item," then confirm. This removes the bike from your devices list.
2. Remove your bike from your VanMoof account
This critical step generates a new validation code that the new owner needs to register the bike.
Using the VanMoof App:
- Open the app > Settings
- Select your bike > Advanced
- Click Remove bike from account > Confirm deletion of ownership
- Double-check the email address shown in the last step. You will receive new validation codes on that email.
3. Retrieve and share the validation code
After removing the bike, you'll receive an email with a new validation code. This code is essential for the new owner to register the bike and access features like the bike's settings, ride statistics, and remote unlocking. Forward this email to the buyer immediately or include the pdf in the handover.
Important: Without this validation code, the new owner cannot register the bike. The original code from the rider manual became invalid after first registry.
4. Physical handover checklist
Provide the new owner with:
- The validation code PDF via email or print
- Original purchase documentation (if available)
- Charger, toolkit and other accessories
Important reminders
- Always generate and provide the new validation code before finalizing any sale or transfer
- The validation code is required for the new owner to access any bike features
- Keep records of the transfer for warranty or support purposes
- If purchasing a second-hand VanMoof, always obtain the validation code before completing the transaction
