Ride Pro FAQs

General

What’s the difference between Ride Pro and Theft Proof?

Theft Proof is our service that guarantees we'll replace your bike if it's ever stolen. With Theft Proof, our Bike Hunters will track down your bike if it's stolen. If they can't find it within 14 days, we'll replace it. With Ride Pro, you’ll get access to exclusive Bike Hunting features yourself. You'll receive an alert if your alarms are triggered and can use our theft-tracking tools to get it back yourself. To sum it up: with Theft Proof, we got your back, with Ride Pro, you become your own bike hunter.

Can I use Theft tracking as a free user?

Tracking is only available in the VanMoof app with Ride Pro. You can always report your bike as stolen, which will block it from use (S6 series) and mark it in the VanMoof register as stolen.

VanMoof S3 & X3 and older models with Ride Pro activated before April 1, 2026, will have tracking in the VanMoof app. Bikes without Ride Pro will no longer be able to track their location, since the 2G network is being phased out. You can read more about the impact here

Every VanMoof S5 & A5 (and newer) will only be able to track the bike more accurately with a Ride Pro subscription. Note that there’s a free trial available for Ride Pro. Without a subscription, you can still disable your bike remotely, rendering it unusable.

Do you offer Ride Pro for VanMoof S3 & X3 or older models?

Sign-up for Ride Pro on the S3, X3, and older models is now closed. Riders had until April 1, 2026, to subscribe and retain access to location-tracking features; those who did will be able to track their bikes until they unsubscribe. For riders with these models and older, it is no longer possible to take out a Ride Pro subscription.

Subscription

Who can subscribe to Ride Pro?

Ride Pro is a yearly subscription available to all VanMoof riders (including the S6 series, S5 & A5 coming soon, S3 & X3, and older). Features vary by bike model, so be sure to check compatibility before upgrading.

How do I subscribe to Ride Pro?

  1. Subscribe: Start your 14-day free trial on our website or directly in the VanMoof app under Settings > Ride Pro.

  2. Activate: Complete checkout and check your email for an activation code. Enter this code in the app to activate Ride Pro. (If you have multiple bikes in your app, make sure to select the correct one!)

How do I cancel, and can I get a refund?

You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime via your orders page. Ride Pro continues until the end of your current billing cycle (yearly, or legacy monthly), and we do not offer refunds for unused time.

Can I use Ride Pro on multiple bikes, or transfer it between them?

Ride Pro is uniquely linked to you as a person and a single Bike ID.

  • Multiple bikes: You will need a separate subscription and activation code for each bike.

  • Transfers: Ride Pro cannot be transferred to another bike or a new owner. Deregistering a bike from your account automatically cancels its subscription.

What's the difference between the VanMoof app and Ride Pro?

  • VanMoof App (Free): Your digital control center to unlock, customize, and manage basic bike settings.

  • Ride Pro (Paid Upgrade): Adds premium features to the app, including real-time theft alerts, advanced tracking tools, and health app integrations.

What's the difference between Ride Pro and Theft Proof?

  • Theft Proof: Our official recovery service. If your bike is stolen, our professional Bike Hunters track it down, and if we can't find it in 14 days, we replace it.

  • Ride Pro: Empowers you to become your own Bike Hunter with live alarm notifications and in-app location tracking tools.

Tracking

My VanMoof has been stolen. What can I do?

If you think your bike has been stolen and you want to track it, you first need to report it missing. Open your VanMoof app, navigate to 'Settings' and select the bike you wish to report as missing. Scroll to the bottom and tap 'Mark as missing'. The app will guide you through the rest.

FYI: You can’t use Ride Pro Tracking and Apple Find My simultaneously. Once you activate Ride Pro Tracking, you will receive a warning that we will temporarily disable Find My.

My VanMoof has been stolen. Can I still add Ride Pro?

Yes. You can activate Ride Pro and start the hunt without having the bike. Order Ride Pro online and activate it in your VanMoof app using the activation code.

Please always be mindful, careful, and sensible while hunting for your bike. Make sure you verify the frame number and Bike ID on the bottom of the bike once you've recovered your bike.

If someone steals my bike, can they download the app and then use the bike?

No – they would need your VanMoof login details to use the bike normally. When you report your VanMoof as missing in the app, all smart features are locked down, and you won't be able to ride. Its anti-theft tracking will also now be activated.

Does my bike still work if I report it stolen?

As soon as you report your bike as stolen, we instantly block its functionality and lock it down so no one else can use it. Anti-theft tracking is activated, and you'll be able to see exactly what we've disabled in the app.

How can I track my VanMoof?

Once you've marked your ride as stolen, our system engages with GSM cell-tower triangulation. Once our system has picked up your bike's coordinates, it'll send them to our servers. Then it's up to you. You can go out there and hunt that bike down. But please remember, if any situation feels unsafe, leave it to the police.

In addition to our internal tracking system, your VanMoof S5 or A5 has Apple Find My built in. Find My is the perfect way to locate your bike when you've just misplaced it by showing you its location.

FYI: You can’t use Ride Pro Tracking and Apple Find My simultaneously. Once you activate Ride Pro Tracking, you will receive a warning that we will temporarily disable Find My.

My remote signals are greyed out or will not trigger.

You can send a signal to flash the lights or play a sound once every five minutes. This delay helps save your bike's battery and keeps the connection stable while the bike looks for a signal. If it does not work, wait five minutes and try again.

How does theft tracking work?

VanMoofs use a combination of GSM cell-tower triangulation and connected smartphone GPS location services to pinpoint your stolen bike's location. This technology accurately determines your bike's location by triangulating signals from nearby cell towers. Your connected smartphone's GPS location services work alongside GSM technology to enhance the accuracy and reliability of our ultra-precise tracking system. For privacy reasons, VanMoof’s tracking systems can only be activated once a rider reports their VanMoof stolen through the VanMoof app.

I use the free version of the app. Can I still track a stolen bike?

Yes, but you have fewer tools. Without a subscription, you only see the last location where your phone was connected to the bike via Bluetooth. You will not see location history or temperature details, or be able to send remote signals, unless you are within 15 meters of the bike and connected via Bluetooth.

Why can't I use Apple Find My and Theft Tracking at the same time?

Apple's policies do not allow two tracking systems to run simultaneously for privacy reasons. When you turn on VanMoof Theft Tracking to find a missing bike, Apple Find My automatically turns off.

What's the difference between Ride Pro and Theft Proof?

With the Theft Proof service, our Bike Hunters will track down your bike if it's stolen. If they can't find it within 14 days, we'll replace it. With Ride Pro, you can become your own Bike Hunter. You'll receive an alert if your alarms are triggered, and you can use our bike hunter's theft-tracking tools to get it back yourself. To sum it up: with Theft Proof, we got your back, with Ride Pro, you become your own bike hunter.
