If your VanMoof isn't responding, don't worry. Follow these steps to get your bike back to life.
Your bike is in Deep Sleep
To protect your battery during long periods of inactivity, your bike enters Deep Sleep. It won't wake up automatically in this mode.
Plug in. Connect your charger for at least two hours.
Reset. Give the power button on the top tube a two-second press to wake the system.
Turn on. Briefly press either handlebar button or the power button to start your bike.
Your connection is inactive
Your bike won't auto-wake or react to Touch Unlock if it isn’t connected to your phone via Bluetooth.
Check Bluetooth. Ensure your phone is paired with your bike in your system settings.
Refresh. Restart the VanMoof app and try unlocking using the app or the handlebar button.
Your battery is empty
Your VanMoof has two batteries: the main battery for riding and a cartridge battery for the electronics. If either is empty, the bike won't respond.
Charge up. Connect your charger for at least two hours. A red light on the charger means it’s working; green means you’re full.
Pulse the system. If there’s still no response, unplug the charger and press the power button once. This sends a pulse from the main battery to the cartridge.
Finish charging. Plug the charger back in for another 15 minutes to ensure the electronics are powered.
Power on. Press the handlebar button or power button to start, then follow the app instructions.
