The New VanMoof S6 & S6 Open

Built for total harmony between rider and road, the S6 and S6 Open are the culmination of 5 generations and 11 years of e-bike innovation. Every element has been reimagined or newly designed in collaboration with McLaren Applied. It’s the definitive expression of everything we’ve created.

Introducing the unleashed generation of VanMoof e-bikes, a comprehensive redesign. Experience the innovation of a new 3-gear autohub, a thoroughly revamped Control Core, and an entirely fresh sonic experience. Enhanced Halo visibility features new animations, complemented by a smooth, quick, and highly secure kick-lock.

The VanMoof Control Core 

The newly designed Control Core is the brain at the core of every VanMoof ride. Control Core powers our most iconic features with next-gen precision. It’s the strongest system we’ve ever built, and it’s engineered for the long ride. In other words, the control core is our Electronic control unit (ECU) of the bike. 

The renewed Control Core comes with a USB-C port for diagnosing your e-bike. Thanks to the improved Control Core, you can now ride your bike for even longer - the kicklock will always work, even when your battery has run flat.

Renewed Sounds

The Sonic Signature of VanMoof is completely renewed. Same spirit, fresh new frequencies. Every tone’s been carefully synthesised to feel right at home in the city . Subtle, smart, and unmistakably VanMoof. It’s less noise, more presence. A sonic signature that literally moves with you.

Each sound on your bike has been carefully redesigned, from the startup chime to the security alarm: 

• When you press the bell, the system intelligently adapts its sound to the situation. 
• The alarm begins subtly but escalates to a powerful deterrent to scare off thieves. 
• Power settings are now intuitive and generate sound perceptible only to you, avoiding disturbance to others.

3-speed Autohub

In the 6-series, we have removed the e-shifter and moved to our already famous AutoHub. The new Autohub for 6-series is a 3-gear system that makes your ride as smooth as possible. Forget clunky gear changes. The improved AutoShift Hub shifts automatically by reading your speed and adjusting in real time for seamless, smart momentum.

The Halo Rings

Brighter, sharper, simpler. The next-gen Halo Light Display glows stronger to deliver at-a-glance clarity in any light. It’s not just easier to see, it’s easier to understand. No squinting, no second-guessing.

Gen 6 kick-lock

The S6 series come armed with a rear-wheel lock that activates with a simple tap. No dragging chains. No fumbling keys. It’s faster to engage, fully waterproof, and built to respond instantly.

To lock your bike, align the kicklock with the stripes on the rear hub and gently kick it. This activates the alarm and shuts down the bike, ensuring its security. Unlock and power on your bike using the VanMoof App on your phone, or as you approach, press the 'Touch Unlock' button on the handlebars: the kicklock will release immediately, getting you ready to ride.

Always On Tracking 

With our new Control Core, we have more accurate (always on) tracking than ever before. It knows where it is. Even when you don’t. With satellites and cell towers in sync, the S6 never drops off the grid. 

To make the most of our improved tracking, you can accessorise your ride with our Theft Proof service. Whenever someone’s bold enough to steal it. With our Theft Proof Service, we’ll hunt it down and find it for you. If we can’t, we’ll replace your bike.

Warranty

The new S6 series come with a new 3-year (or 7500km) warranty from the day of delivery, whatever comes first.

Peak Design® phone mounts

Your phone powers the ride: the VanMoof app, maps and tracking. So it needs to be locked in, front and centre. That’s why we teamed up with Peak Design, experts in design-driven gear, built for movement and made to last. We designed the VanMoof S6 bikes with a seamlessly integrated Peak Design mount.

It’s the first bike with SlimLink™, Peak Design’s signature magnetic-mechanical system. Built right in. One-click phone access, rock-solid stability and a smoother ride from start to finish. 

A Peak Design phone mount is included with every 6-series bike. Riding with an older bike model? You can purchase a universal.

Suspension seatpost

With the S6, we introduce a suspension seatpost, making your riding experience even more comfortable (sold separately). Later this year, we will make it backwards compatible with all VanMoof bikes produced since 2009. 

Once ordered, mount the VanMoof saddle to it, using the bolts of your original seatpost. Installing the suspension seatpost raises the minimum height of the saddle by 40mm. The Seatpost comes with 1x spring (default, 3.8mm) for users 75-100kg, pre-installed and 1x spring (soft, 3.5mm) for users under 75kg, in the box.

Handlebars Risers

Handlebar Risers for the 6-series are sold online. They can be ordered in our webshop later this summer. These are used to raise the height of the handlebar. Each package will contain: 1x set of 10mm risers and 1x set of 20mm risers. 

The max you can raise your handlebars is 30mm. 

Redesigned Kickstand

S6 has a new kickstand design with improved function and reliability. It’s based on the SX3 kickstand and is compatible with the 5-series kickstand. The renewed kickstand comes assembled with every 6-series.

(Heavy Duty) Carriers Compatibility

All carriers designed for both the front and rear of the 5-series vehicles are fully compatible with the 6-series models. This means that if you own a 5-series carrier, you can seamlessly use it with your 6-series vehicle without any modifications or adjustments. This compatibility offers great convenience for users who may be transitioning from a 5-series to a 6-series, as it allows them to retain their existing carriers and continue enjoying their functionality.

Good news to our heavy-lifting-riders: Our Heavy Duty carriers are now available online. They have a simplified design - without a rear light - to improve installation. Your sports bag, Thule Child Seat or last-minute market find are covered, thanks to the 27 kg weight limit.
