Warranty Guidelines for VanMoof

These guidelines serve as an implementation of the Warranty policy and when in doubt or in case of any inconsistency, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Policy will prevail.

In these guidelines, the guidelines for all our products are combined. Therefore, some parts may only apply to either the e-bike or any other of our products.

1. Never Warranty (not exhaustive) 

  • Wear and Tear parts (drivetrain, tires, brakes)
  • Any damage to the vehicle that has been caused by accidental damages such as but not limited to the vehicle falling over, something falling onto the vehicle or other external impacts or an accident. 
  • Check-ups and regular maintenance
  • Brake adjustments (only Warranty when swapping wheels under warranty)
  • Broken or damaged parts (Wheels, fenders, levers, saddle, buttons etc…) - failure caused by misuse or improper assembly
  • Broken spokes, since broken spokes are often caused by accidents or misuse of the vehicle.
  • Accidents
  • Cosmetic Damages (Excluding shipping damages caused by 3rd party, e.g. Transporter etc…)
  • Customer misuse or improper assembly (handlebar wires, pedals mounted wrong, Vanmoof accessories)
  • Tire puncture
  • Overtightened or worn-out screws or bolts 
  • Play in parts (if the mileage on the vehicle (since the last repair) is >150km)
  • Truing a wheel is caused by misuse or improper use.
  • Squeaky brakes (Need cleaning of pads and discs)
  • Damage from improper charging, or use of any charger not supplied by VanMoof.
  • Failures caused by aftermarket or modified components. 
  • The replacement of consumable items
  • In general, no warranty shall apply, apart from the situation explicitly mentioned under 3), if the mileage on the vehicle (since the last repair) is >150km 

2. Warranty within the first 4 weeks or the first 150 km

  • Parts failure (not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly) 
    • Chain, brake levers, wheels, fenders, handlebar, brakes
  • Play in parts (not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly) 
    • Headset bolt, wheels
  • Loss of brake fluid/pressure

3. The Battery, Motor and ECU Limited Warranty covers for a period of two (2) years or, the first 7500 km, whichever comes first - provide proof of purchase, that the vehicle has been maintained as per instructions, including firmware updates, maintenance and restriction of using third-party apps.

  • Broken Battery
    • Battery capacity guaranteed at least 70% if used properly
    • The battery should be kept at a minimum SOC of 30% when the vehicle is not used for long periods of time to avoid deep discharging the cells.
  • Broken E-shifter (Manufacturing failure only & not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly)
  • Broken/noisy motor
  • Broken charger
  • Broken Kicklock 
  • Buttons (not working) (Not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly)
  • Broken or noisy bottom bracket 
  • Hub internals failing (Not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly)
  • Cable connectors (Not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly)
  • All internal Units i.e Power ECU, User ECU, etc. (Not including failure caused by misuse)
  • Damaged motor cable (Not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly)
  • Broken lights (Not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly, e.g. front carrier mounted)
  • Seatpost clamp issues (Not including failure caused by misuse or improper assembly, e.g. clamp too tight)
  • Broken frame (Manufacturing failure only & not including failure caused by misuse or accidental damages)
  • Broken fork (Manufacturing failure only & not including failure caused by misuse)
