Keeping your VanMoof S3 & X3 in top condition involves regular maintenance, and lubricating the chain is an essential part of that. Regularly lubricating the drivechain helps reduce friction, noise, and wear, ensuring a smoother and more efficient riding experience. Perform this maintenance task periodically, especially if you notice any signs of dryness or increased resistance in the drivetrain.
Materials Needed
· Lubricant suitable for bike chains
· Clean piece of cloth
Step by Step Guide
Step 1: Prepare Your Bike
- Find a suitable space to work, and if possible, elevate your bike to make it easier to access the drivechain.
Step 2: Identify the Lubrication Points
- Locate the area where the drivechain needs lubrication. There may be a designated access point or hole, similar to the one mentioned in the video.
Step 3: Flip the Bike
- Carefully flip your bike upside down to access the drivechain.
Step 4: Apply Lubricant
- Insert the lubricant nozzle into the designated access point.
- While spraying the lubricant, simultaneously pedal backward to ensure even distribution along the entire chain.
- Repeat this process a few times to ensure thorough lubrication.
Step 5: Clean Excess Grease
- Use a clean piece of cloth to wipe off excess lubricant that may have accumulated on non-chain surfaces.
- Ensure the chain is the primary recipient of the lubricant.
Step 6: Final Check
- Rotate the pedals a few times to allow the lubricant to penetrate the chain links.
Step 7: Restore the Bike
- Once the chain is lubricated and excess grease is removed, carefully restore the bike to its upright position.
